Director of Growing Edge Training Associates with a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology and Counselling
Mark Freado is the founder and director of Growing Edge Training Associates in Westerville, Ohio, which offers training and consulting in mental health, social work, and education, with a focus on trauma-informed practices for children and adolescents. Freado holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and in Counselling from West Virginia University.
Freado’s 40-year career includes extensive contributions to mental health, public education, social services, programme development, leadership, counselling, and teaching. He has worked with private providers, public institutions, and schools across the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, South Africa, and Asia, speaking, consulting, and delivering training services. He specialises in programme development, leadership skills, and interventions for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, as well as their families.
Freado has held roles as Director of the International Training Network for CF Learning, which trains professionals to work with at-risk children, and President of Reclaiming Youth International, which supports programmes and initiatives aimed at helping young people build resilience and positive relationships. He has also been the Executive Director of the American Re-Education Association, which works to improve educational and treatment methods for children with behavioural challenges, as well as State Director at Pressley Ridge, an organisation providing support to children and families in crisis. Additionally, Freado is a master trainer in Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI), a method for managing crisis situations with children and adolescents through structured conversation. He has trained more people in this skill-based course than anyone else in the world. He is also co-creator of the training programme “The Art of Kid Whispering: Reaching the Inside Kid”, which teaches professionals how to communicate and build deep relationships with children to support their emotional development.
