International Børnesolidaritet (DK)
A Danish membership-based NGO that works with local partners in Latin America to strengthen the rights of vulnerable children and youth
International Børnesolidaritet (English: International Child Solidarity) is a Danish membership-based NGO founded by educational unions in 1992, working with local partners in Latin America to strengthen the rights of vulnerable children and young people. International Børnesolidaritet works to:
- support the organisation and participation of children and young people in social and political development processes at all levels (local, national, and international). This involves enhancing their self-esteem and confidence, and creating spaces for authentic and meaningful participation. It also includes working with parents, volunteers, authorities, and others involved with children and young people;
- create new alliances and partnerships in collaboration with local, national, and international partners that promote common goals;
- achieve sustainable and positive changes for children and young people through systematic child involvement, and promote methods to increase the genuine participation of children and young people;
- test innovative partnerships and solutions, including advocacy, identified and driven by the children and young people themselves.
International Børnesolidaritet has partners in Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, and the initiatives are funded through Danish development aid, grants from unions and their local branches, and raised funds. Additionally, International Børnesolidaritet implements awareness and engagement efforts in Denmark regarding the living conditions of vulnerable children in Latin America to create awareness, interest, and solidarity.
