Getting it Right - Trauma, Belonging and Understanding with Vulnerable and Marginalised Groups
With keynote speaker Lisa Cherry
Trauma Informed Practice provides the framework for getting it right for all those accessing support. In this presentation, Dr Lisa Cherry invites us to view our settings using a trauma informed and relational lens starting with a nuancing of the language providing us with a deeper comprehension of the work ahead.
Drawing on her own research, Lisa goes on to share her conceptual model for cultivating belonging. She proposes that belonging is an antidote to trauma as belonging plays a significant role in the healing process for those impacted by trauma by fostering safe relationships and connections with others. For those who are marginalised, this is more important than ever.
Finally, Lisa focuses on 'understanding.' How can belonging form part of the narrative of healing and recovery? Where can we inject the language of hope in our practice?
